Melvin R. Malone

Melvin R. Malone, 88, formerly of Toulon and a resident of Bel-Wood Nursing Home passed away peacefully on Sunday March 11, 2012. Mel was born on November 19, 1923 in Manchester, IA the son of William and Minnie Jaques Malone. He married Elizabeth R. Smith November 15, 1950 in Peoria. Surviving is his wife, one son Terry (Sandy) Malone. One Grand daughter Bridgette Malone in Wenona, IL; two step grand children and four step great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Dorthea O'Brien of Lehigh Acres, FL. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter Erin Malone, three brothers Harold, Harley and Everett as well as one sister Grace Plotner. He attended Brimfield High school before working at Caterpillar Tractor Co. until 1945. He then farmed in Monica, IL from 1945 until 1951 before working at Kraft Foods in Toulon from 1952 until his retirement in 1971. After his retirement from Kraft Foods he worked at Stark County Farm Service and again retired in 1988. Cremation rites have been accorded with graveside services scheduled for 11:30am Saturday March 17, 2012 at Toulon Cemetery in Toulon, IL.
