Michael Howard

Michael C. Howard, 61, of Pekin formerly of Washington, Springfield passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on November 9, 1952 in South Bend, IN the son of Cecil and Doris Gruber Howard. Surviving are three children Kim Howard of Hewitt, TX; Kelli (Matt) Davis of New Berlin, IL and Todd (BJ) Howard of Taylorville, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, one sister Linda (Keith) Amstutz of Columbia, SC. His mother preceded him in death. Mike attended Washington Community High School where he played football and ran track. He enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country until he was honorably discharged in October of 1977. Mike was a 6th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do teaching classes for many years. He organized the opening of the World Tae Kwon Do Academy in Springfield, IL. Mike had many enjoyments in life including hunting, attending church, writing music but particularly enjoyed playing his guitar. Cremation rites have been accorded. A burial of his cremated remains will be 10:00 on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
