Michael J. Potter, 76, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Accolade Healthcare of Peoria.

He was born on November 26, 1949, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of the late Harry and Julia Nudo Potter. He married Sherry D. Choate on May 14, 1997, in Peoria.

He leaves behind his loving wife, two sons—Shawn Reuter from East Peoria and Chris Reuter from Sunnyland—three grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. His family also includes three sisters and two brothers.

A United States Air Force Veteran, he served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mike worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 30 years before retiring in 2002.

Cremation services have been arranged, and the family will privately celebrate his life and honor his memory. Donations in his memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing. Arrangements are handled by Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services in Peoria.
