Michael C. Stokes, 80, of East Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Loft Rehabilitation in East Peoria.

He was born on February 5, 1946, in Peoria, to Charles and Jeanne Sommers Stokes. He married Mary Elaine Glesenkamp and she passed away on March 6, 1987. He later married Jane Gambrel Adams in Peoria on March 18, 1991.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Jeff Stokes of Farmington, Illinois and Tim Stokes of Pekin, Illinois; three stepsons: Craig (Kim) Adams of Greenville, South Carolina; Dave (Tracy) Adams of Mascotte, Florida; and Jay (Melissa) Adams of Morton, Illinois. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Amber, Cassie, Gabe, Nathan, Isabella, Hannah, Brittaney, Bryce, Ryan, Tucker, and Tanner; and one brother, Jim (Carla) Stokes of Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dave.

Mike was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 35 years, concluding his career as an IT Technician before retiring. Mike was a graduate of Illinois State University, a passionate Chicago Cubs fan, and always rooted for any team facing the Dallas Cowboys. Mike also had a real affection for cars, loving everything about them.

Cremation rites have been conducted. Although no public services will be conducted, Mike's family will privately celebrate his life.
