Millard "Mike" Mcmullen

Millard Michael "Mike" McMullen, 80, of Dunlap, IL, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, IL.

Born on November 22, 1943, in Salinas, CA, to Russell C. and Frances L. (Gadberry) McMullen, he married the girl next door, the former Linda J. Hoerr, on November 18, 1967, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria. His wife (2018) and his parents preceded him in death.

Mike attended Woodruff High School and graduated from Bradley University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Degree. He worked for 30 years for the company that eventually became Komatsu America. He liked to say that he worked for five different companies and never left his desk. He retired as a Senior Development Engineer in 2006.

He honorably served with the Illinois National Guard.

He played golf for more than 60 years, was a member of Mt. Hawley Country Club for over 35 years, and served on the Board of Directors. At one time, he was the Senior Club Champion. His other love was Corvettes, which he drove for over 50 years.

A great day was golf with the guys in the morning and dinner with Linda and friends at a nice restaurant in the evening. Mike enjoyed good books, movies, and Rock & Roll or Blues music. He was a member of the Bradley B Club, the USGA, and the National Corvette Restorers Society. Mike and Linda enjoyed going on NCRS-sponsored Road Tours throughout the country. After retiring, they wintered at Kiva Dunes in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Over the last couple of years, Mike was lucky to find a true companion in Ann Gerardo. They wined and dined and had a great time together, for which Mike was forever grateful.

Per his request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has been accorded. At a future date, his remains will be scattered at Linda's site on the Illinois Prairie. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate for the cure of child cancer, Transitions Hospice, or Lutheran Hillside Village.
