Morse O. Strong, 88, of Lacon passed away at 5:30pm Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at St. Joseph Home in Lacon with family by his side. Morse was born on October 31, 1926 in Lacon the son of Alfred and Nora March Strong. He married Phyllis A Wunder on July 23, 1949 in Lacon. Surviving are his wife, two sons Elmer (Lyn) Strong and Joe (Wendy) Strong all of Lacon. Five grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one sister Inva Strong of Lacon also survive him. His parents, three sisters and five brothers preceded him in death. An honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran he worked for Hytex Brick in Sparland for 19 years. Morse later worked at LTV Steel Plant in Hennepin for 15 years. Morse was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon. He enjoyed many things in life, which included Duck Hunting, Fishing, spending weekends with his speed boat on the Illinois River, wood carving, carving totem poles, which can be found in his back yard but especially spending time with his family who will miss him dearly. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be conducted 11am Saturday, August 15th at Lacon Cemetery in Lacon. Fr. Tom Meizer will officiate.
