Raymond D. Russell, 67, passed away at 11:30pm Sunday July 19, 2015 at Heritage Health in Chillicothe. He was born July 9, 1948 in Peoria the son of Raymond E. and Frances I. Head Russell. He married Juanita Thorpe on October 4, 1970 in California. Surviving are one daughter Marie (Nick) Alvarado of Chillicothe, two grandchildren Jacob and Cooper. Also surviving is one sister Diana (Jim) Scanlan of Sun City West, AZ, two nieces Cynthia (Doug) Scanlan-Tipple, Susan (Joshua) Roberson and one nephew Jimmy Scanlan. His parents preceded him in death. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as an assembler for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for many years before retiring in 2007. Ray had many enjoyments in life including fishing, art, and music. He was a lifelong Elvis impersonator and fan, projecting his Elvis persona on a daily basis. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 1:30pm Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Chillicothe City Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following his service at the Chillicothe Bible Church, 434 W. Moffitt St in Chillicothe. Memorials in his name may be given to Special Olympics Illinois.
