Doctor Richard G. McLaughlin, 64, of Peoria Heights, IL passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at his residence. He was born on April 30, 1953 in Boston, MA; son of the late George and Dorothy Mikulin McLaughlin. Richard graduated form Bergan High School and Loyola University of Chicago. He received his MD degree from UAG Medical School Guadalajara, Mexico. He was passionate towards medical research in many areas. Rich was fluent in Spanish and donated his medical skills to all walks of life. He was especially partial to donating his medical skills and time to the Latin community in many parts of the country. He also donated these same skills in the program Doctors Without Borders. His friends loved him for his sense of humor and his unique views on life. He will be greatly missed by so many. Surviving are one sister, Dottie (Deward) Douglas of Stafford, VA; three brothers Bill McLaughlin of Chicago, IL; Ed McLaughlin of Plano, TX and Kevin McLaughlin of Friendswood, TX. Also surviving are two nephews Bryan McLaughlin and FiancAC. Emily Shaw of San Francisco, CA., and Mike McLaughlin of Nashville, TN. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. Father Paul Stark will officiate.
