Obituary

Peoria - Richard Glen Millikan, 91, of Peoria passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, IL.

Dick was born to Rose and Glen Millikan, February 26, 1926, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a father to three, grandfather to four and great grandfather to two. He graduated from Peoria High School in 1944. Dick served in the United States Navy stationed in the Philippine Islands during World War II.

Dick married Dorothy Chamberlain of Peoria in 1949. He attended Bradley University and received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1950.

Dick and Dottie resided in Columbus, Ohio for 50 years raising their family. Dick started his career with Norman Products Co. and Lennox Industries, Inc. before joining International Research and Development Mechanalysis, Inc. aka IRD. As Vice President of International Sales and Marketing, he traveled the world to establish the international market for IRD. He served on the IRD Board of Directors and on the Committee of International Standards for Vibration Technology.

Dick was a devoted family man, passionate fisherman and creative craftsman. Dick was a member of Masonic Community Lodge No. 684 F. & A. M., Columbus, Ohio.

He is survived by Dorothy C. Millikan, his wife of 68 years; son James R. Millikan of Eagan, MN; daughter Susan L. Millikan of Orlando, FL; son-in-law Rahim Mau of Fremont, CA; his grandchildren Sara Fisher (Bo) Orlando; Lauren Wilkinson, Orlando; Taylor Millikan, Eagan; Maleka Mau, Fremont; two great grandsons Tripp and Henry Fisher; nephew Mark Phillips (Lisa) Peoria; sister-in-law Mary Dickison, Peoria and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Nahara Janice Mau, Fremont and sister Nancy J. Phillips, Peoria.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Dick's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Ivy Club, 5102 N. Galena Rd, Peoria Heights, IL.
