Rita Smith

Rita D. Smith, 76, of rural Sparland, IL passed away at 1:40 pm, Friday, June 21, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born on November 12, 1947, in Peoria, IL the daughter of George and Darlene Mannon Miller. She married Ronald Smith on June 12, 1966, in Chillicothe. He passed away on December 6, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her step-father George Huggins, one granddaughter Danielle Smith, one step-son Marvin Smith.

Surviving are one son Marcus (Teresa) Smith; one grandson, Ryan (Megan) Smith; three great-grandchildren Levi, Blake and Scarlett Smith. Also surviving is her twin Sister Anita (Albert) Adams of Chillicothe.

Rita was a 1966 graduate of Chillicothe Township High School. A homemaker, she enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. She also volunteered her time to the VFW Fish dinners. Her best time was listening to her husband and son singing and playing music. Rita was a waitress with her twin sister Anita at the 4 Oaks tavern/restaurant, which her parents owned and operated.
