Robert L. Cox

Robert Lowell Cox, 74, of Dunlap passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, July 21,2012 at 11:30pm at the emergency room of Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born on May 29, 1938 in Morris, IL the son of John Stanley Cox and Emma Wieburg Cox. He married Beverly A Kramer, on September 26, 1959 in East Peoria. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, one daughter Robin B. Cox of Peoria, one son Brian D. Cox of Dunlap, and one grandson Douglas Robert Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Lou Gauwitz. He was a Brick mason for 20 years before opening Pioneer Skateland in 1974 in Pioneer Parkway, Peoria IL. He was the owner-operator until it closed in 1984. Many of the kids knew him as Mr. C. He then worked at Baker Drapery Corp. from 1984-1989. His last job was at Multax in Morton IL. Where he worked 23 years from 1989 until the day before his death. Bob was loved by all and had many friends. He will be sorely missed. Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial visitation on Saturday July 28, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home in Germantown Hills from 2pm until 4pm. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
