Robert Nelson

Robert C. Nelson, 65, of Pekin passed away unexpectedly at 7:05am Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his residence after a brave battle against cancer. He was born on February 24, 1949 in Springfield, IL the son of Ralph and Annette Sbarbati Nelson. He married Barbara J. Grens Ronzani on September 28, 1985 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are his mother of Springfield, his children Brenda (Phil) Lee and Bobbie (RJ) Jones all of Pekin, Denis (Stacey) Ronzani of East Peoria and Annette (Art) Hansel of Springfield. Further surviving are 7 granddaughters Kortnie, Marissa, Bailey, Dalani, Sklylar, Storm Samantha. One grandson Paul two great granddaughters Rylee and Remie as well as three brothers Jim (Sandy) Nelson of East Peoria, Ralph (Debbie) Nelson Jr. and Don (Carol) Nelson both of Springfield along with a host of nieces and nephews. His father and one nephew preceded Bob in death. Bob was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked for SVI Systems in Peoria for 20 years. He then continued truck driving, working for Continental Carbonic Products, Inc. in Pekin last working in December of 2014. Bob was an avid bowler and fisherman and loved spending time with his family. He loved playing music, Texas Hold'em and singing with family. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. He was always known to be the life of the party. Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate Bob's life will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Sunset Bowling Lanes 3000 Court St in Pekin from 1pm until 5pm. Memorials in his name may be given to the Illinois Cancer Center or CHARGE Syndrome Foundation.
