Roger T. Payne

Roger T. Payne, 71, of Brimfield passed away at 8:21am on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Roger was born on February 23, 1942 in West Frankfort, IL the son of Samuel and Marie Ford Payne. He first married Patricia Tucker and later married Carol Forbes on March 6, 1971 in Bartonville. Surviving are his wife, one daughter Teresa (Aubrey) Jones of Dudley, NC, three grandchildren Clay (Nadia) Jones of Dudley, NC, Curtis Jones of Morresville, NC, and Sr. Airman Derek Jones, currently serving in Afghanistan. He is also the great grandfather of Jimmy and Natalie, who Opa loved dearly. Also surviving are one brother Earl (Jo) Payne of West Frankfort, IL and one sister Ruth Waters of Lakewood, CO. His parents, one brother Marion Lee Payne and one sister LaJoan Lavish preceded him in death. He was an honorably discharged US Air Force Veteran. Roger worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Mapleton and Mossville for 29 years before retiring in 2003 as an assembler. He was a member of the Brimfield American Legion Post 452, and was a founding member of Northwest United Methodist Church in Peoria. Cremation Rites have been accorded with a Memorial Service scheduled for 11am Tuesday, February 18th Northwest United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Douglass officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Northwest United Methodist Church.
