Sallie Mae Williams, 76, of Peoria, IL, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025. She resided at Goldwater Care in Peoria Heights and was under hospice care.
She was born in Marion, AR, in 1949 to IC and Earline Williams. She spoke fondly of her parents and grew up in a bustling household with five sisters. Sallie proudly spoke of being a Majorette in her school's band.
Sallie was preceded in death by her sisters Ocie Keys, Katherine Allen, Willie Mae Johnson, and Annie Scott, and her great-grandchild Ossie Carson Thomas, who passed at 3 months old. Also, her son Cornelius Dixson passed away recently at 43 years old, and she was never the same. She shared a very special bond with him and her other living son, Sam Jr, and they resided together for years.
Sallie is survived by one sister, Azzie Jenkins (75), one daughter, Marsha Johnson (54), four sons, Craig Dixson (49), Fred (Venessa) Dixson (47), Kevin Dixson (46), Sam (Jenica) Dixson Jr. (44). Also, surviving are Step Children Sam Dixson Jr., Mamie Dixson, Sherry Hazel (Dixson), and Anthony Dixson. She has 14 grandchildren who mean the world to her, and she is always excited to see them. Her first Grandchild is Shanice Collins, whom she shared a very close relationship with and loved dearly. Next is Kiar Young, John Thomas, Johnnice Thomas, Johnny Thomas, Catara Dixson, Fred Dixson Jr., Kemecia Dixson, Maurice Babin, Serayna Kline, Imari Kline, Nevaeh Dixson, Sam Jr. Dixson, Kataleya Dixson, whom she doted over and also loved dearly. Sallie also has many great-grandchildren whom she adores.
Sallie had many interests, but her family was her life, and she enjoyed spending time with everyone. She loved to talk on the phone and just converse about anything and everything. Her personality was one of a kind, and if you ever met her, you would not forget her. She loved to sing in church and loved to fish. Her favorite food was whole catfish fillets, pork skins, and Diet Coke. Her special interest was collecting dolls, and her son, Fred, always would get her baby dolls for Christmas and Birthdays because it would put a smile on her face.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 8, 2025, from noon until 2 pm at the Potter House, 2901 NE Adams St in Peoria, IL. Donations can made to the Dixson Family to help with cremation expenses.
