Obituary

Elliott Scott Gordon, 61, of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away at 6:35 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.

Scott was born on November 10, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois, to Pleasant and Ruth (Rockett) Gordon Jr. and Ruth. He married Janet Riedlinger on May 2, 1997.

He is lovingly survived by his wife and three children: Raven (Deonta Rogers), Farraher-Gordon of Peoria, Elliott Scott (Eliza Sturdivant) Gordon, and Ellery (Christian) Merrick. His grandchildren include Keon'Dre Crite, Messiah Simmons, Elijah Gordon, Eliya Gordon, Benjamin Merrick, and August Merrick. His family also cherishes one sister, Jacqueline Brown; two brothers, Craig Gordon and Jeffrey (Sheri) Gordon; two half-sisters, Tina Gordon and Brittany Bobo; and one half-brother, Jeffrey Wilson. He was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Bruce Gordon.

Scott loved spending time with his grandkids at their sporting events, exploring new places through travel, going fishing, and shopping for cars. He was also a passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Scott dedicated 26 years of his career to Keystone Steel and Wire, which later became Liberty Steel. He also celebrated 16 years of sobriety and was a well-known and respected member of the AA community.

Following his wishes, Scott’s remains will be cremated. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Steel Workers’ Alliance Union Hall in Bartonville.
