Scott E. Merrill, 63, of Peoria, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at his residence with family by his side.

He was born February 1, 1958, in Peoria the son of Lyle and Phyllis Merrill. He married Brenda (Susie) Bohart on October 18, 1980, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Merrill of Peoria Heights; and his six children, Charles Merrill of Peoria, Alexandra (Ernie) Merrill of Dunlap; Franklin Merrill of Princeville; Jesse Merrill of Peoria; and Saylor Merrill of Peoria Heights.  Also surviving are two sisters, Kathy (Steve) Roehm of Dunlap; Jan Mulally of Chillicothe; and three brothers, Tim (Diane) Merrill of Wisconsin; Chris (Kelli) Merrill of Normal; John (Stacy) Merrill of Alabama; and four grandkids, Ryan, Caleb, Jayce, and Ella. Scott was preceded in death by one son Samuel Merrill on July 12, 2020, and his parents.

Scott graduated from Peoria Heights High School and was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Peoria. Scott worked at Ameren for 30 years before retiring in 2012 and was a volunteer firefighter for the Camp Grove Fire Department.

One of Scott's biggest accomplishments was being a dad. He was an amazing dad and he loved his kids very much. He enjoyed baseball, golf, having cookouts with his family, playing the lottery, or simply sitting on the front porch engaging in conversation with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Peoria at 11:00 am on Friday, December 10, 2021, with visitation at 10:30 am until his time of service also at the church.  Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services, Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
