Sharon R. Deckard

Sharon R. Deckard, 73, of Peoria passed away after a lengthy illness at 4:41pm, Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria with her sister Katherine and daughter Kelly by her side. She was born on January 6, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA and raised in Orange County by her grandparents Arthur and Ruth Greensword Brown. Surviving are four children John Gordon Ray Knight Jr. of East Lake, OH; Andrea Lynn Woodby of Yuma, AZ; Kenneth James Knight of Tucson, AZ and Kelly Joy Knight of Peoria whom Sharon made her home with. Also surviving are grandchildren John Gordon Alexander Knight, Sean D Worschmidt, Jay Worshcmidt and Shannon Knight and Ambrosia Knight, and a host of many nieces nephews great nieces and great nephews. Further surviving are her siblings Katherine Canaday of Peoria; Don Kight of Keosauqua, IA and Richard Baird of Anaheim, CA. She first worked for the LA Times newspaper for many years first starting in delivery and later as a typesetter. Sharon then worked for Midwest Central Railroad for many years where she was instrumental in the construction of Michael Jackson's train for his Neverland Ranch. She was president of the California Human Society for 8 years. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
