Shirley Mae Bloch, 91, of Peoria Illinois passed away at 12:09 AM on February 2, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Davenport, Iowa on January 27, 1925 to Arnold and Freda Hagin Stephens. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William A. Stephens, grandson Francis David Cummings, Jr and son-in-law Edward Dean Copp. Shirley is survived by her husband of 69 years, Eugene O. Bloch and their six children, Stephen (Judy) Bloch of Lafayette, Indiana; David (Debbie) Bloch of Bloomington; Cheryle (Reverend Edward) Hudelson of Pontiac; Susan Copp (David) Densberger of Washington; Nancy (Bruce) Parker of Arlington Heights; Peggy (Russell) Farden of Marquette Heights; 21 grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren. Shirley served in the Cadet Nurse Corp during World War II and graduated from Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She is a retired registered nurse from Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was a member of the Methodist Retirees group and the American Contract Bridge League. She received an ACBL life master certificate in 2010. She had a passion and love for all types of animals. Cremation Rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or services. The family will receive friends at a celebration of her life open house at a future date.
