Sonja Mason

Sonja L. "Sonny" Mason, 79, of Peoria IL, formerly of San Diego CA, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Farmington Country Manor in Farmington, IL. Sonny was born January 26, 1938, in Peoria Illinois, the daughter of the late Robert D. Sturm and Violet M. Kingen and Step father Guy Simmons. She is survived by her son, Douglas K. Mason of Thompson MO. Grandchildren: Douglas K. Mason Jr, Blake A. Mason and Zachary A. Mason which she absolutely loved and cherished. Siblings: Bobbie K.Sturm, Hope Y. McLeod, Dennis W. Sturm, Kathy J. King and Sandra K. Eberle. Sonny lived in San Diego, California for 50 years after graduating from Manual High School class of 1956. Sonny worked for Hud (Housing & Urban Development) in San Diego retiring after 30 years of service. After retiring, Sonny stayed where heart was until an illness forced her back to Illinois. She was very passionate about her love for the lord and never turned down an opportunity to pray. Cremation rites have been accorded.
