Susan E. Thorson

Susan Ellen Thorson, 66, of Spring Bay, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by family.

Susan was born December 8, 1958, in Peoria, the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Thorson, and her sister Patricia Bastian.

Susan is survived by her two daughters, Angie (fiancé Steve) Thorson and Jenny (Brian) Grant, and one brother, James (Juanita) Nelson. Susan will be missed by her four grandchildren, whom she adored: Dylan and Haley Collins, and Sydney and Samantha Grant.

Suzy was well-known for many years as a bartender at the Spring Bay American Legion. She was a devoted wife, amazing mother, and a loving grandmother. She was known for her love of animals, including her beloved dog Cooper. She will be remembered for her caring demeanor towards family and friends, as well as her long, pretty red hair. She cherished the time she spent with her grandkids, daughters, family, and friends. The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out during this difficult time.

Per Susan's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded,  A Celebration of life is planned for Saturday, August 9, 2025, beginning at 1pm at the Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115, 500 Legion Lane in East Peoria.
