Venola E Martin, 96, of Pekin formerly Green Valley, died at home on Saturday, November 10 at 6:00 am. She was born at home on January 16, 1916 near Green Valley, IL to William E and Mable (Coryell) Jibben. She married Ora L Martin in Queen City, Mo July 5, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1996. Surviving are her two children, Gleneta Reaugh of Peoria, IL and Mick Martin of Camp Point, IL; daughter-in-law, Patricia Martin of Green Valley; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard R Martin; and two brothers, Everett E Jibben and Ronald E Jibben. Venola was a member of the Green Valley First United Methodist Church and was active with the United Methodist Women. She was 4-H leader in Tazewell County for many years as well as a member of the Tazewell County Home Extension. Throughout her life she enjoyed crocheting, traveling and card playing. Her positive attitude is an inspiration to all who knew her. Cremation Rites have been accorded and interment of her remains will be at 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 15 at the Green Valley Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm also on Saturday with visitation one-hour prior to her service at the First United Methodist Church in Green Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Green Valley Centennial Park.
