Virginia L. Stevenson, 91, of Pekin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 12:01 am Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.
She was born on November 23, 1933, in Peoria County, the daughter of Opal "Frank" and Myrtle Hall. She married Norman W. Stevenson in East Peoria on February 26, 1954. He preceded her in death in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rick, her sister, Marilyn (Dan) Mungoven, and three brothers, Frank, Warren, and Melvin Hall.
Surviving is one daughter, Pamela (Bruce Beavers) Stevenson of Washington. One niece, Starla (Jason) Holden of Glasford. Nephews, Dan (Jody) Mungoven of Hanna City, Frank (Valerie) of North Pekin, Joe (Jan) Hall of Morton, Kevin (Janice) Hall of Tennessee, and other nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria and worked for Valley Chemical for numerous years, retiring in 1996.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and collecting vases. One of her greatest joys was her beautiful backyard, filled with flowers and plants. She was a huge animal lover, especially dogs and cats. Her last cat, Gray, is residing with Pam, Bruce, and their three cats and loving his new home.
The family is preparing to honor Virginia's life with a celebration in the coming months. Details will be shared soon, and all who knew and loved her are invited to join.
