Wendell "Wendy" Hinnen

Wendell "Wendy" E. Hinnen, 85, of East Peoria passed away on the morning of Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

He was born on December 24, 1928 in Eureka the son of Jacob and Mary Atwood Hinnen. He married Ermelinda "Linda" Martinez on June 21, 1974 and she survives.

Surviving are four children Manuel "Curley" (Deanne) Crawford of East Peoria, Mary Rossen (late George Rossen) of East Peoria, Bob (Darla) Crawford of Peoria, Marge (Dick) Mooberry of Birchwood, WI. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Wendell was a US Army Veteran serving from May 3, of 1951 until being honorably discharged on May 6, 1953. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 32 years before retiring in 1982. He also worked seasonably for Nestle USA in Morton. He enjoyed gardening, and rooting for the Chicago Cubs. He was very giving and had a great sense of humor, he loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. Wendy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed every day. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria for their compassionate care.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Memorials in his name may be given to the American Legion Post 983 in East Peoria. Cremation services are under the care of Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois.
