November 17, 1942 — March 15, 2024

Peoria, IL

William M. Brown, 81, of Peoria passed away at 4:44 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Accolade of Peoria.

He was born November 17, 1942, in Peoria, the son of Robert and Margaret Mathis Brown.

Surviving are one sister Jean (Jim) Palmer of Littleton CO; one niece Rebecca (Brian) Whitmer of Peoria and one nephew Scott Staley of Littleton, CO and one sister in law Linda Brown of Peoria.  His parents one and brother Robert preceded him in death.

He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran. William worked for American Red Cross in Peoria for 40 years before his retirement.

William's knowledge of baseball history and statistics was unparalleled, and he could recount the most memorable plays and players with an almost encyclopedic precision. His love for the game was infectious, and he spent many a sunny afternoon cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs.

Beyond the diamond, William's quick wit and vast trove of facts made him a formidable trivia opponent and a sought-after team member at local quiz nights. His joy in sharing little-known tidbits and engaging in friendly competition will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

At the request of William, cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 pm Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at St. Francis Woods Assisted Living in Peoria.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Red Cross.  Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
