William "Bill" Jackson

William A. Jackson, 71, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Carle Health Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born on October 27, 1952, in Ronceverte, WV, the son of Curtis and Imogene Mitchell Jackson. He married Vivian "Lynda" Gibson on June 18, 1984, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

His wife, one son, Charles (Rebecca) Jackson of Hazard, KY, and two grandchildren, Seth and Victoria, survive.

After completing high school, William embarked on a career with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, where he demonstrated his keen sense of justice and attention to detail—his time at the FBI laid the foundation for a life characterized by discipline and integrity. Seeking to serve his country further, William joined the U.S. Navy, dedicating four years to protecting the nation's freedom and values. His service was recognized with an honorable discharge, a testament to his exemplary conduct and performance.

Transitioning from military to civilian life, William continued to contribute to the backbone of America, this time in the coal mines of West Virginia. His hard work in the mines was a reflection of his profound respect for the labor that powers the nation. As life unfolded, William's path led him to Peoria, where he embarked on a career in healthcare that would span several esteemed institutions.

William's dedication to healthcare began at Methodist Medical Center, where his compassion and skill quickly became apparent. He later shared his talents with OSF St. Francis and Proctor Hospital, continuing to make a difference in the lives of those around him. Ultimately, William returned to Methodist Medical Center, dedicating many years to the institution before retiring as a respected cardiovascular technician.
