William "Bill" Shrode

William R. "Bill" Shrode II, 72, of Peoria passed away at 11:55am Monday, June 16, 2014 at his residence with family by his side. He was born on September 6, 1941 in Peoria, the son of William R. and Edna E. Hayes. He married Bobette S. Nickles on January 31, 1970 in Peoria. Surviving are his wife, one daughter Jamie Shrode both of Peoria, one son William R. (Trisha) Shrode III of Elgin, one grandson Aidan Shrode, two-step grandchildren Caitlin Lakin and Rielly Curran and one sister Leola Storey of Mexico. His parents and one sister Patsy Kelly preceded him in death. A 1960 graduate of Manual High School, He worked for various places in Peoria and later worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 33 years retiring in 2003 as a NC lather operator. He had many enjoyments in life but particularly loved collecting model cars, and spending time at the Par-A-Dice Casino. Bill was a strong family man that understood the importance of quality time with his family and will be greatly missed. Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service scheduled for 11am Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Wilton Mortuary. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name may be given to the American Cancer Society.
