Brenda J. Mahoney, 60, of Peoria passed away at 6:30am, Sunday, August 26, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
She was born on December 14, 1957 in Kankakee, IL the daughter of Lawrence and Kate Simmons Mahoney. She married Henry J. Blackwell on October 25, 2008 in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband, two sons Kyle Cieszkiewicz of Scottsale, AZ and Adam Cieszkiewicz of Charlottesville, VA. Also surviving are three brothers Larry Mahoney, Kevin Mahoney and Bruce Mahoney, two sisters Jackie Mahoney and Karen Mahoney along with extended family. Her parents and two brothers, Michael and Brian, preceded her in death.
Brenda worked as medical laboratory scientist at Methodist Medical Center. Later, she worked for Immucor as Corporate Account Technical Manager, retiring in 2016
Giving generously of her time, Brenda enjoyed contributing to the efforts of such organizations as Peoria Fine Arts Fair, Sculpture Walk Peoria, Center for Prevention of Abuse, Contemporary Arts Center, Peoria Public Radio, Heart of Illinois Harvest, and ‘Look. It’s My book!’, to name a few.
“The Pedestrian”, a sculpture donated by Henry and Brenda, stands in tribute to Brenda outside the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at the Contemporary Arts Center, 305 Southwest Water Street, Peoria, IL.
