Charles “Chuck” E. Runyan, 76, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 5:20 am Thursday, July 22, 2021, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. On July 29, 1944, he was born in Canton, IL, the son of Raymond and Mille Miller Runyan. He married Cheri L. Williams on December 12, 2003, in Farmington, IL.
Surviving are his wife; two sons Scott Runyan and David Runyan, both of Peoria; one daughter Julie (Jared) Hardy of Glasford, IL. Also surviving are two stepdaughters Amy (Noel) Shafer of Peru, IN, and Laura (Scott) Sevey of Rockford, IL.; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one sister Jean (Ronnie) Henderson of East Peoria, IL. His parents, two brothers Ken Runyan and Bob Runyan, preceded him in death.
A 1962 graduate of Cuba High school, he was a standout full back on the football team. He then began working at Caterpillar Tractor Co at the age of 19. Chuck started working as an assembler and progressed to the Electrician Apprenticeship course, and ended his career in Management in Engineering after 43 years.
Chuck served as a deacon and elder at First Baptist Church in Farmington and Second Chance Church in Peoria. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushrooming, gardening, and his favorite place to visit was the mountains in Colorado. Chuck was an avid Chicago Bears fan and LA Dodgers.
Chuck loved his family, and most importantly, he loved his God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He lived a full life where he honored his Lord daily in everything he did. Chuck will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence will be forever missed by his family.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate his life will be Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The Encounter, 800 Springfield Rd, East in East Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois is assisting with arrangements.
