Cohl Jones Obituary

MANITO-Cohl Evan Jones, 27, of Manito, passed away August 18, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  Cohl was born in Champaign, IL, and also lived in Paxton, IL, and East Peoria, IL.

Cohl leaves behind his loving wife Danielle (Witherspoon-Jones), daughter of Tina and Jeff Witherspoon, and the light of his life, his daughter Laila, who recently turned 4; his parents, Glenn (son of the Glenna and the late David Jones), and Sherri Johnson (daughter of Sue Hutton and Ber Breckenridge).  He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters Mikayla, Austin, Savannah Jones, Tommy, and Kourtney Giddens.  He was also loved by his extra parents Amy Jones, Tim Johnson, and Dave Garant, April Witherspoon, Tom Giddens, and grandparents Joann Jones and BJ Hutton.

Cohl worked for Eagle Services of Creve Coeur as a supervisor, where he labored and worked at chemical, electrical, and industrial plants. He was a hard worker and always strived to do his best.

His biggest joy in life was his family: his wife and daughter were the highlights after a hard day's work.  He also loved to take care of his animals, including chickens, dogs, cats, and a cow they named Darla, or as Cohl would jokingly call "T-Bone 726" by her birthday and for the steaks it would produce for him.

Cohl loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outdoors. Whether it was on a four-wheeler, quad, or pickup, he loved doing something outside rather than staying in.  Cohl also loved to ride his motorcycle and was always up for a trip anywhere.  He was also proud to be a volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Forman Fire Protection District and at Station 1 in Manito. This position fits his personality perfectly.  He loved to help people, no matter how hard or long it was.  He was always there with a kind word, strong shoulders, and a smile that just spread among everybody that knew him when he showed up.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

We are reminded that Cohl will continue to live on in this world, not only in the hearts and minds of those who knew him and loved him but in the quiet gratitude of those individuals whose lives will be saved by his generous gifts of life as a donor.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held for him at Memorial Park, 400 E. Southmoor St. in Manito, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Memorial donations can be made through GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/f/cremation-funds-for-cohl-jonesfor medical expenses and anything that Danielle and Laila may need as they move forward after his passing or to Forman Fire Protection District in Manito.
