Dale E. Wagoner, age 93, passed away at his home at Lutheran Hillside Village on Friday, August 27, 2021. He was born on March 26, 1928 in Presho, SD to Ernest and Ada Mae (Chamberlain) Wagoner.
He graduated from Burlington High School in Iowa in 1946, then enlisted in the Navy where he served in Saipan. He returned to study Business at Bradley University, graduating in 1952 and spent his career at Caterpillar where he retired from Part Logistics in Morton, IL in 1986. He went on to purse his second career raising miniature horses.
Dale was a Christian and a former member of Grace Church in Morton.
He married Betty Riley on October 18, 1953 in Des Moines and she passed away on July 23, 2010. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He is survived by his two children, Shelley (Steve) Weaver of Peoria, Scott (Sarah) Wagoner of Fort Wayne, IN as well as six grandchildren: Zack (Carolyn) Weaver, Evergreen, CO; Ashley (Josh) Devenyns, Bainbridge Island, WA; Luke (Rachel) Weaver, Dallas, TX; Olivia (Brian) Burress, Greenville, SC; Owen (Katie) Wagoner, Charlotte, NC; and Colson Wagoner, Birmingham, AL; eight great-grandchildren: Hudson Weaver, Carter Burress, Campbell Weaver, Emerson Weaver, Emery Burress, Tate Weaver, Blaire Burress, and Parker Wagoner. He also leaves behind his dear friend Jo Heiple of Greenville, SC.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside will be at Hirstein Cemetery in Morton at a later date. The family would ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation.
