Douglas H. Fraser Jr., 79, of Bartonville, IL, passed away at 2:18 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL., after 4 years battling cancer.
Doug was born on January 2, 1945, in Albany, GA, the son of Douglas H. and Helen Swain Fraser Sr. He married Cheryl K. Geier on October 19, 1975, in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Nancy (Gregory) Hunchusky of Peoria; two granddaughters, Kelly and Hayley Hunchusky; one brother, Robert (Kelly) Fraser of Anderson, IN; and one sister, Beverly (Michael) Badgley of Chesterfield, IN.
Douglas served his country, joining the U.S. Air Force with honor from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968, embodying the values of dedication and service that would define his life.
After his military service, Douglas found his calling at Air-Land Transportation in Morton, IL. His commitment to excellence saw him rise through the ranks, culminating in a respected position as a dispatcher supervisor. Douglas's colleagues remember him for his professional acumen and the mentorship he provided until his retirement in 2004.
Douglas's passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and joy in the simplicity of nature. Camping and fishing were hobbies and a way of life for Douglas, providing him with countless stories and memories he cherished and shared with others. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his enthusiasm for the Bradley Braves Basketball games, which he listened to with unwavering support.
Cremation rites have been accorded. While there will be no public services, Doug's family will privately celebrate his life and legacy. His remains will be placed in Trivoli Cemetery in Trivoli, IL at a later date. His family invites you to share your favorite stories and memories of Doug to honor his memory.
