Garland D. “Cat” Catton, 71, of East Peoria, IL passed away at 8:49 am on Monday, June 28, 2021, at his residence.
He was born on July 2, 1949, in Peoria, IL, to Floyd and Jesse Catton. He married his soul mate, Tracy Harms, and they were married for 17 years.
Surviving are his wife, Tracy of East Peoria; six children, Tara Catton, Nikole Catton, Shannon, Robin, Shane, and Alurua; two brothers; and two sisters.
Garland was an honorable U.S. Marine Veteran, serving from 1966 through 1970 with two of those years serving in Vietnam. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria for 31 years, retiring from Caterpillar. He also worked for the State Highway for eight years.
He enjoyed arts, working on cars, had a love for motorcycles, was a master at stain glass, and enjoyed painting. One of his paintings is hanging in the Bartonville American Legion. He loved to be outside and enjoyed fishing. He was a kind-hearted man who would do anything for anyone. He made every day count! He especially loved his family.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice. Online condolences at www.peoriafuneral.com.
