Gerald Donald "Jerry" Loos, 77, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the OSF Richard L. Owen's Hospice Home, Peoria, IL.
Jerry was born January 10, 1944, in Jackson, MO, son of William and Bertilla "Tillie" Heisserer Loos.
Jerry is survived by his wife in heart, Judy Boles; three daughters; Tammi Stanko, Florence, SC; Terri Hall, Hartsville, SC; Christie DeYoung, Florence, SC; two stepdaughters Kim (Mike) Jensen of Cedar Lake, Indiana, and Tammy (Dain) Rakestraw of East Peoria, IL; grandchildren Garrett and Ethan Stanko, Savannah, GA; Morgan and Jacob Hall, Columbia and Hartsville, SC; Taylor and Cassius DeYoung, Columbia and Florence, SC. and several great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers; George (Joan) Loos of Mission Viejo, CA; Jack Loos of Ohio; three sisters Carol Sue (Pete) Clark of Lexington, KY, Sally (JE) Deevers of Cape Girardeau, MO. And Kathleen “Kay” Crabtree. His parents and two brothers William "Bill" Loos and Richard "Dick" Loos preceded him in death.
Before his retirement, Jerry worked as a local truck driver for Air-Land Transport Services, Morton; Amerigas, East Peoria; and Pabst Blue Ribbon, Peoria Heights.
Jerry was a fun-loving family man and friend to many. He always looked forward to his annual deer hunting trip with his brother and loved fishing. He was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed NASCAR. During his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling to Cape Girardeau, MO, and Myrtle Beach, SC, to visit family and travel with his companion and friends to the Caribbean and Mexico.
Jerry was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Peoria Chapter Isaac Walton League, where he would volunteer his time and raise money for local charities.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am on April 9, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3720 N Sterling Avenue, Peoria, IL, where the family will receive guests 30 minutes prior. Memorial contributions or donations in Jerry's name can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or the Peoria Chapter Isaac Walton League, East Peoria, IL.
