Henry "Clay" Wagnaar, 68, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed away Wednesday evening May 4, 2022 at his home. Clay was born in England on October 12, 1953. He was the son of Albert and Elva (Maxwell) Wagnaar.
Clay lived in Manito, Illinois for over 40 years and moved to Lake Placid, Florida 3 years ago to enjoy his retirement. He retired as a Superintendent at Clifford Kaufman & Sons Inc. in Morton, Illinois after 30 years of service. Clay was a member of the Heartland LakeSharks Parrot Head Club and the Pekin Laborers Local 231 Union. Clay enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working on home projects, fishing, and golf, especially participating in charity golf tournaments. He had been a Cub Scout leader and loved traveling to Jamaica.
Clay is survived by his wife of 6 years Julia, son Jeffrey (Brittany) Wagnaar, daughter Natalie (Bruce) Green, sister Karen (Lonnie) Kristler and his grandchildren, Piper and Maya Reynolds, Avalyn Wagnaar, and Bjorn Irwin-Wagnaar.
Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elva Wagnaar, wife Nancy Adami Wagnaar, in-laws Maurice and Jean Adami, father-in-law Charles DeMoss Jr and sister-in-law Ruth DeMoss Tjarks.
Clay’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Pekin Moose Lodge on June 4, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to T.A.P.S., Arbor Day Foundation, or the Laborer’s Local 231 scholarship fund.
