Herbert L Hiatt Jr, 73, of Pekin, IL, passed away at 2:30 PM Friday, June 23, 2023, at the home of his daughter in Bellevue, IL, with a son and two daughters by his side. He was born on January 6, 1950 in Peoria.
He is survived by his brother Bob (Janet) Hiatt, his children Chris (Amber) Hiatt, Starr Dunlap (Hiatt), Todd (Amanda) Hiatt, and his stepchildren Kristy (Tom) Cramer, Cissy Hunborg, Troy (Paula) Driffill, Tonya (Brian) Maas, Bob Davis, and Floyd Tribbett. He was also a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, who all held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Charlotte Hiatt, two siblings, Leonard Hiatt & Helena Hiatt, a son-in-law Vern Hunborg, and a stepson, Mike Davis.
For 30 years, Herbert was a self-employed handyman. This profession allowed him to utilize his love for working with his hands. His dedication to his work was evident, as he continued to offer his services until two years ago when he fell ill. In addition to his handyman services, Herbert also ran Karaoke and DJ services for Mixed Nuts Karaoke for many years. His love for music and entertainment brought joy to many and created lasting memories for those who attended his events.
He had a deep passion for music, which was evident in his involvement with Mixed Nuts Karaoke and his personal life. He enjoyed singing and had an appreciation for all kinds of music. His love for music was infectious, and he often shared this passion with his friends and family.
In addition to his love for music, Herbert was fond of holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas. He would often dress up as the Incredible Bulk for Halloween and Santa Claus for Christmas, much to the delight of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His playful spirit and love for these holidays brought joy and laughter to his family during these special times.
Herbert was a man who loved to help others, whether it was through his handyman services or simply lending a listening ear to a friend in need. His gentle, friendly, and kind nature made him a cherished member among his many friends and a beloved figure in his family. His legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will live in the many lives he touched with his kindness, love for music, and joyous spirit. His life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and the joy of living each day to the fullest
At the request of Herbert, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at BG Karaoke Saloon located at 4202 Pfeiffer Rd in Bartonville, IL, on July 8, 2023, at 5:00 PM.
