James Parkin

James Harold Parkin, lovingly known as Jim, was born on August 14, 1967, in Peoria, IL, to his adoring parents, Cranwill “Butch” and Sharon Thomas Parkin. Jim's vibrant spirit and warm personality touched the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his passing on September 3, 2023, at the age of 56.

He married Tasha Berchtold on September 6, 2003, and they had two sons Nicholas Parkin and Miles Parkin. They later divorced and he raised his boys in Tremont whom he is quite proud of. Also surviving are his parents of Pekin and one brother Josh also of Pekin.  His paternal and maternal grandparents and two uncles preceded him in death.

Jim attended Petersburg High School in Petersburg, IL. Following his education, he pursued a career in the construction industry, working as a skilled roofer for Koch Construction. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, Jim was highly respected by his colleagues and valued by his employers.

Outside of work, Jim's greatest joy in life was the love he had for his family. He was a devoted and caring father to his two sons. He cherished every moment spent with them, sharing silly jokes over family dinners. Jim also found solace in the love and support of his parents.

Jim's free spirit and love for adventure were evident in his hobbies and interests. He had a passion for outdoor activities, often finding peace and serenity while fishing and hiking in nature. Whether he was exploring new trails or simply enjoying the beauty of central Illinois, Jim found contentment and an escape from the busy world around him.

Cremation rites have been accorded per his wishes. In his memory, a celebration of life will be held at a later date where stories, laughter, and cherished memories will be shared to honor and remember Jim's life.
