James R Goble, 67, of Peoria, passed away peacefully in his home on April 7, 2021, surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Jim was born on October 27, 1953 to James and Norma (Leucht) Goble in Peoria, IL. Jim was a graduate of Peoria High School and Illinois State University with a BS in Industrial Technology. He worked as a software engineer at various companies throughout his career.
Music was a passion for Jim from a very young age. He loved a wide variety of musical styles and was a talented guitarist and bass player. He played in several bands/musical groups through the years. Jim taught guitar to many young people, enjoyed seeking out new fringe bands, and going to live performances. In his later years, Jim developed an interest in painting. He loved animals and being in nature. Jim was a kind and gentle soul. He approached life with a wide-eyed optimism that will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janice McSherry, daughter, Katie (Jason) Banfield of Madison, WI, two granddaughters, Rose and Ella, brother, Robert (Janet) Goble of Knoxville, TN, a niece, nephews, and many close friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Goble, and son, Aaron Cook.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Sun Foundation in Washburn, IL and Forest Park Nature Center in Peoria, IL. A celebration of life will be held at the family home at a future date.
