Jane Marie Lanier, 66, of Galesburg, IL, passed away peacefully at 8:07 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Born on November 16, 1957, in Galesburg, the daughter of Richard and Patricia Courtright Walker.

Surviving Jane are her daughter, Amanda (Ben) Stomberg of Galesburg, and two brothers, David (Yvonne) Walker of Galesburg and Steve (Amy) Walker of Rockford, IL; one sister Beth Bergren of Galesburg. Jane's love for her family was profound, and she held a special place in her heart for her favorite niece, Rachel and long time best friend Max Tessier.

In her professional life, Jane was a dedicated worker at the Knox County Nursing Home for many years, always bringing her positive attitude and infectious smile to the workplace. Her colleagues admired her for her work ethic and her ability to bring joy to even the most mundane tasks.

Jane's love for life was evident in her passions. She was a devoted fan of Wheel of Fortune, never missing an episode and often solving the puzzles before the contestants. Her love for country music was unparalleled, with Loretta Lynn being her favorite artist. One of her most cherished memories was standing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, a moment that combined her love for music and her adventurous spirit.

Jane was a woman of strength and resilience, known for her generous, kind, and friendly nature. She inspired many, having been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and maintaining her sobriety for an impressive 23 years. Her recovery journey was a testament to her determination and willpower; she was a cherished member of her extended family within the AA community.

While there will be no public services, Jane's family will privately celebrate her life and legacy. Her remains will be placed in Wataga Cemetery in Wataga, IL. Her family invites you to share your favorite stories and memories of Jane to honor her memory. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in her name may be given to the Knox County Nursing Home.
