Jean J. Carr, 82, of 3605 W. Malabar Court, Peoria, IL passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
On August 2, 1939, in Chicago, IL, she was born to Joseph and Ardith (Gibson) Cederquist. She married James P. Carr in Chicago in October of 1959. He preceded her in death in 1996. Also preceding her were her parents, two beloved nieces, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Surviving are her two children, James Carr of Peoria, and Julie (Scott) Evans of Washington and two grandchildren, Tyler Evans of Peoria Heights, and Cameron Evans of Washington. One sister, Joyce Seyforth (Lansing, IL) and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Jean came from a long line of very strong women. She went back to college at age 37 with 2 pre-teen children at home and became an LPN. She worked at OSF Medical Center where she retired in 2004 after 28 years of dedicated service.
In her well-deserved retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends and family alike. As a hobby, she became an accomplished maker of personalized greeting cards which delighted her friends and family. Her other joys were watching her well-fed wild birds that gathered on her deck, as well as cheering on her Chicago Cubs. Her biggest joy after her own devoted children were her 2 grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as the ‘yes machine’.
Cremation rights have been accorded and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) where her love for animals was never ending.
