John Franklin McGee, 76, of Bartonville, IL passed away at 9:45pm on Sunday July 16, 2023 at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria.

He was born on January 5, 1947, in Rushville, IL the son of Lenville and Violet Peacock McGee.

Surviving is his daughter Tonnya Ledbetter of Quincy, IL; three sons Greg McGee of Quincy, IL Troy McGee of Panama City, FL and Tommy McGee of Ogden, UT. Also surviving are three brothers Kenneth McGee of Bartonville, IL; Jack McGee of Bellevue, IL and Ronald (Penny) McGee of Mapleton, IL. His parents and one infant brother preceded him in death.

He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran. John spent his professional life as a laborer for various traveling funfairs, a job he loved for its vibrancy and constant change. His dedication and commitment to his work were admired by all who knew him. John’s life was characterized by his kindness and friendliness. His wisdom was gained from a life rich in experiences, and shared with those around him.

At the request of John, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are scheduled. Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
