Katheryn Howard

Katheryn Sue Howard, 66, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 1:29 am on April 12, 2023, at OSF St Francis Medical Center, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Kathy was born March 17, 1957; surviving are her parents, Doug and Betsy Nelson of San Antonio, TX. Her son Anthony (Miguel) Howard and her sister Linda Bridges preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Doug Howard, along with five children, Melinda (Ly) Riley, Chris (Brandy) Riley, Tara (Oscar) Lopez, Joseph Howard, and Brian Sandy. Two sisters, Holly Nelson and Julia Lemmon, also survive. Kathy will be missed by her 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Kathy was a retired Ironworker and will be missed by her Local 112 family. She enjoyed the outdoors with her family, camping, fishing, and traveling with her husband, Doug. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends, whom she considered family. She supported many charities and had a heart that we will miss. She had a sense of humor that anyone that knew her adored, and she always had an open door to anyone that needed her. Kathy will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be 'Always on my mind' whenever we hear Willie.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held on May 6, 2023, at the Hilltop Bar and Grill in Creve Coeur, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Farm Aid, the ASPCA, St. Labre Indian School, or a charity of the donor's choice. Affordable Funeral & Cremation Services of Central Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
