Opal Irene Fleenor, 74, of Farmington passed away at her residence surrounded by her family this past Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Opal was born May 9, 1944 in Galax, VA to the late John and Maggie Caudill Bowman. Left to cherish her memories are: daughter Susan Elizabeth Starcevich and husband George Anthony Starcevich Jr; granddaughter Jessica Sue Buescher and husband Ryan Buescher, great-grandson Rowan Buescher, great-granddaughter Aylah Buescher and grandson Justin Wayne Starcevich and wife Ashley Starcevich, one son Jerry Lee Harrington and wife Janet Alicia Harrington, granddaughters Constance Irene Harrington, Catherine Grace Harrington, Carolyn Elizabeth Harrington, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her brother James Bowman and sisters Nancy Lee Taylor, and Mary Lou Stilley.’’
Opal loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grand kids. She enjoyed fishing, watching scary movies and country music line dancing. Opal loved her Perry Mason reruns ”isn’t he handsome” she’d say. Opal may have left the south to come be with her children and grandchildren, but her heart remained in the Great Smokey Mountains.
She worked for Par-A-Dice Casino for 17 years and most recently as a care giver for Spoon River Home Health.
Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Yates City Community Center, 101 North Union Street in Yates City from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A eulogy and a time of sharing will begin at 3:00 p.m. Memorials in her name may be given to the Farmington Rescue 1100, 49 North Come St, Farmington, IL 61531.
