Rickey “Rick” Dale Green, 69, of West Peoria, IL passed away at 5:40p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Heddington Oaks, where he had been a resident for the last few years.
Rick was born on October 3, 1950, in Waltonville, IL, the son of Bill and Chestine (Richards) Green. She later married Don Richards, who was a wonderful father to Rick.
Surviving are his sister, Becky Richards of Peoria; his nieces and nephew, Angie Green (and her daughters, Chloe, Hailey and Caitlyn Toohill) of Peoria; Bill Green (and his daughters, Mady and Avery Green) of Washington, Ill.,; and Cathy Green (and her husband, Dominic Bigger) Green of Peoria; his former sister-in-law, Aimee Green of Peoria; and his cousin, Brenda Bravard Singler (and Dustin Singler and Diana Westbrook) of Mt. Vernon, IL. His parents and one brother, Bill Green, preceded him in death.
Rick worked for Canteen Food Service for many years. One of the highlights of his life was watching the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. He loved the Beatles, along with most 60s and 70s rock, and had an amazing record collection. He was a special, loving man who treated his nieces and nephew like his own children. His presence will be sorely missed every day, every holiday and every opening day of baseball season from here on out. If you hear “In My Life,” think of Rick. This is the song that he, on more than one occasion, requested to be played to remember him after his passing.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life for Rick will be announced at a later date. Rick’s family is grateful for your kind words and continued prayer.
