Robert Hierman

Robert LeRoy Hierman, 79, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 11:46 AM on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on December 8, 1943, in Peoria, the son of Kenneth and Thelma Crabtree Hierman. He married F. Virginia Lipscomb on October 6, 1975.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Sherrie (Gary) Sommers of Streetman, TX, two grandchildren, Ryan Sullivan and Laura Sullivan, one sister Paula Hierman of Whitaker, NC, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother Thomas Hierman.

Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He served from 1964 until 1967. In 1980 he was in the Naval Reserve. Robert also served as a VFW chaplain. He was a stationary Engineer at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 22 years, retiring in 2005.

Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of life is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Northwest Baptist Church at 5430 N. Big Hollow Road, Peoria, IL 61615. After his service, we will travel to Resurrection Mausoleum at 7519 N. Allen Road, Peoria, IL 61614, to lay his remains to rest and return to Northwest Baptist Church for a luncheon.
