Robert “Bob” Louis Jordan, 91, of East Peoria, IL, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Loft Rehabilitation Center in Eureka, IL.
On May 28, 1930, he was born to E. Hellen (Slagel) and Louis F. Jordan in Layfette, IN. He attended East Peoria High School and graduated in 1948. Bob was a four-year varsity letterman and captain of his high school football team. He later attended Bradley University and played football for Eureka College. In 1956 Bob enlisted with the Air National Guard and served until being honorably discharged in 1960. He married Lorraine May Jordan (Mattlin) on October 4, 1958, later passed on February 2008.
Bob is survived by son Robert L. (Sandra) Jordan, Jr., their son Robert L. Jordan III and son Kenyon P. (Sharlyn) Jordan, and their children Andrea Catherine Jordan and Haley Lorraine Jordan.
Throughout his professional life, Bob was self-employed as an excavating contractor. His specialty was golf course construction, and he completed 20+ courses in Illinois and surrounding states. He was a 63-year member of Operators Local Union 649. Bob was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge, an avid outdoorsman, and a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. As a retiree, he did fundraising for wetlands conservation and was an elected member of the East Peoria Zoning Board. Fishing was his passion, and Bob talked about getting out on the water until the time of his death. To his credit, he achieved 45 years of continuous sobriety. Always direct with his opinions and determined in his way, Bob was a great dad, loving husband, and friend to many.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and services will be scheduled at a later date.
