Sandra (Jones) Marks

Sandra L. (Jones) Marks, 76, of Pekin, Il, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

She was born May 15, 1947, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Warren and Irene Allen Jones. Sandra is survived by her husband, Michael Marks, of Peoria, and children, Todd (Jamie) Marks of Brimfield and Mark (Andrea Kupferschmid) Marks of West Peoria. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Sandra and her devoted husband, Michael, brought joy to many through their successful culinary ventures. The Busy Bee restaurant, a downtown Peoria staple, was a testament to Sandra's passion for service and community. Their journey continued with the opening of The Country Bee in Kickapoo, where Sandra's warmth and hospitality flourished.

Sandra's entrepreneurial spirit didn't stop at restaurants; she and Michael sweetened the lives of Brimfield residents with the Country Freeze ice cream shop, a place that became synonymous with summer smiles and family memories. Her dedication to her businesses was matched only by her commitment to her customers and employees, whom she considered part of her extended family. Sandra's legacy of kindness, hard work, and community spirit will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Peoria.
